Important update: COVID-19 coverage changes
The federal COVID-19 public health emergency for COVID-19 ended May 11, 2023, causing important changes to coverage for COVID-19 vaccines, testing and treatment.
Getting vaccinated
COVID-19 vaccines are a free benefit for all members.
- Adults can get vaccines from pharmacists and other pharmacy licensed staff, or from their primary care provider.
- Check with your child’s doctor if they offer the vaccine.

- Free ride to your vaccination
The Mile High United Way’s Ride United program gives rides to vaccination sites across Colorado, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to qualifying residents.
Getting tested
COVID-19 testing in a Health First Colorado or CHP+ provider’s office is 100% covered.
- At-home tests:
- Health First Colorado and CHP+ stopped covering at-home COVID-19 tests on Sept. 30, 2024.
- Order up to 4 free COVID tests from CovidTests.gov.
- Starting Oct. 1, 2024, you can pay out-of-pocket for an at-home test.
- Other testing options:
- If you don’t have health insurance, you can get a COVID-19 test at no cost if you have symptoms or were recently exposed to someone with COVID-19. Use CDC’s no-cost COVID-19 testing locator to find a free test near you.
Getting treated
FDA-approved COVID-19 medications are 100% covered.
- Your provider can tell you if you need treatment for COVID-19. Find your primary care provider or health plan’s phone number on your member ID card.

Keep your health coverage! Complete your renewal forms.
- Update your contact info today in the Health First Colorado app or on CO.gov/PEAK
- Look out for mail, email, and texts with instructions on how to renew your coverage.
- Respond right away with updated information to avoid a gap in coverage.
